Obama meets with bank executives
(NECN: Washington) - President Barack Obama says our nation's banks play a "crucial role" in our nation's economy.
Obama is asking bank executives to support his efforts to tighten the financial industry.
News that Citigroup is repaying $20 billion in bailout money kept the company's CEO from attending the meeting today. A Citi spokeswoman said chairman Richard Parsons planned to attend but bad weather kept him from reaching in Washington time.
