Homeless advocates sleep outside despite deep freeze

(NECN: Scot Yount, Hyannis, Mass.) - The concept is simple, and the point sharp. In the deep freeze taking over New England, local elected officials and others are spending the night outside on the cold ground.

It is the fourth year that the Hyannis Federated Church and Homeless not Hopeless have gathered to drive the message with what they call the "sleepout." With a tough economy and sinking temperatures they are seeing lots more people in peril. This time of year, the homeless die.

Nine have already this year in Barnstable County.
